Hello 5th Graders!
This is my first time writing on a blog--the one I created for our classroom. I'm excited to learn about blogs, and hope that this becomes a wonderful way to share and learn together this year.
I have two questions to start:
1) What is something that you would like us to do in class this year?
2) How should we use this blog?

I sent invitations to join the blog, to everyone for whom I have an email address. I hope we can get everyone to read and write on our class blog.

Maybe bloggers could list interesting events in town that we might want to attend (both kids and adults). For instance, this past weekend my kids and I went to the resort shops/mall and they had live artists doing sculptures and paintings of live models. (Dasha'a mom was one of the models!)
We also went to a corn maze in Hauser that had over 5 miles of corn field mazes. 509-242-CORN www.kix961.com $8 adults and $5 kids. Starting Oct 18th it will be haunted! It was beautiful weather and we spent a few hours being lost together. :)
Laura- Geat idea to use our blog to help each other know about worthwhile activities in the area. There is one this Saturday- a work party at Sorensen Magnet School for the Arts from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m!
Good news in the paper this morning: Sorensen 99% certain of receiving $421,000 from LCDC for improvements. Yahoo!
I am looking forward to our trip to the library on Monday and hope we get to read to their dog.

It was great to start computation folders today...and to draw that beautiful picture of Kate!
Great start. Now, let the kids do all the work :*). Blogs can be great tools for sharing info, stories, calendar items, and links. They are a great venue for everyday happenings that slip by in conversation or newsletters. Have fun!

Hi Mr. Groth and other peoples!!! I finally got this to work. I've been waiting for it to forever!!! it works now thanks to my mom. So, I think we should use this blog to make lists of ideas and comments from the students of 5th grade.
this year I want to do lots of pottery and projects. I love hands on stuff. I think that it would be fun for the whole class!!!

This is Kaleb. I think,if it's ok,we should get good at a juggling show we make up and go downtown and perform. At the end we could pass the hat around. We could use the earnings to buy juggling equipment. Maybe we could use Jase's hat if he wears it again in school! Lastly, like Sienna said, I want to do lots of hands on stuff.

I like Kaleb's idea of a juggling show downtown. We probably better do that in the spring, when it's warm again. And we'll have more tricks by then. :)

Hands on! I sure plan to do LOTS of hands-on projects. You guys did well on the leaf project, and I'm looking forward to the explorers projects. I hope Cormac writes a conversation that he acts out over coffee.

Hello fellow Grothonian juniors,
I think whoever goes to the resort on November 28th from 4-6AM should get 500 points for our reading log. We should also make a sign reading "Mr. Groth's 5th grade class from Sorensen Magnet School" and wave in front of the TV cameras for GOOD MORNING AMERICA. Mr. Groth, thanks for not hitting me with a club at Monday night juggling.

Yipee! I'm the first person to comment on the blog in April! Spring break was fun-although we never remembered to 'spring.' We could still do that even though there is still snow on the ground!

I'm Mr. Groth's sister. I live in Madison, Wisconsin. Did you know that Mr. Groth's birthday is on Thursday? I love reading your blog! This is fun! We're expecting a blizzard today. I love that. I wish I'd known you were going to be on Good Morning America - I would have watched for the sign for 'Mr. Grots Klas!' and been so proud.
